LO5/C Learning About Different Religions

This past Sunday I went to my Sunday School as normal. I logged into the class expecting to help the 9th-11th graders with the activity we were doing today. Although, when I joined the call, we were doing something different. Once I joined there were people from another religious school that practiced Islam. One of the large parts about our Sunday School is reaching out and learning about other religions in our community. With this being said, today we were learning about the Islam religion. In fact, Islam is quite similar to Judaism as they are both monotheistic (belief in one G-d). Moreover, there were kids my age, younger than me, and older, that are all part of a different religion. Once we all introduced ourselves, we took turns talking about our religion. People part of my Sunday School used their strength (including me) to talk about the Jewish religion. We talked about the Torah and different events that were important in our religion. Then the other kids that practiced Islam used their strengths to talk about their religion. They talked about events in their religion and some of their prayers. Both groups were able to work collaboratively to talk about their religion.

As one can see, each of the kids was able to use their strengths of knowing information about the religion they practiced and then talking about it. I was able to use my strength of knowing about the Jewish Religion and then communicating the information with the other kids. We were also able to work collaboratively when talking about our specific religion. Some of the kids were able to talk about specific concepts, while others were able to talk about others. This allowed for more information to be shared and an overall more insightful experience.
