LO7/C Cooking and Sharing Thanksgiving

During the morning of Thanksgiving, I decided I wanted to help my mom cook for Thanksgiving dinner. So, I went to go help my mom who was already prepping food in the kitchen. We started by making green beans. I first grabbed the air fryer to cook the green beans in. Then I put the green beans in the air fryer along with some garlic. Next, I started to help my mom with the spinach artichoke dip. We used mayonnaise, spinach, artichoke hearts, and parmesan cheese. I was the one that combined the ingredients together and then put them in a bowl to be cooked. We then started prepping the main dish: lobster pasta. I put the lobsters in a boiling pot of water. I waited for five minutes, and then I took them out and cooled them off in some cold water. After, my mom and I worked to help pull the tail meat out to use in our pasta. Once we finished that, I got a pot and put some water in it for the pasta. After 15 minutes, it started boiling, which meant it was time to put the ...

LO5/C Learning About Different Religions

T his past Sunday I went to my Sunday School as normal. I logged into the class expecting to help the 9th-11th graders with the activity we were doing today. Although, when I joined the call, we were doing something different. Once I joined there were people from another religious school that practiced Islam. One of the large parts about our Sunday School is reaching out and learning about other religions in our community. With this being said, today we were learning about the Islam religion. In fact, Islam is quite similar to Judaism as they are both monotheistic (belief in one G-d). Moreover, there were kids my age, younger than me, and older, that are all part of a different religion. Once we all introduced ourselves, we took turns talking about our religion. People part of my Sunday School used their strength (including me) to talk about the Jewish religion. We talked about the Torah and different events that were important in our religion. Then the other kids that pra...

LO1/C Teaching Hebrew

A while back, I would always go and volunteer at my Sunday school to teach Hebrew. While I was there, I was part of a group called Ozrim that is effectively someone that has completed their Bar Mitzvah and is still coming back to Sunday school and volunteering. I am part of this group because I feel it is important to give back to the community that once helped me when I was getting ready for my Bar Mitzvah. When I am helping out, I choose to teach Hebrew. This is mainly because I am pretty good at Hebrew and reciting prayers. With this being said, everyone Sunday morning I would go into the classroom and sit down with a student that was prepping for their Bar Mitzvah. They would tell me the prayers they were struggling with and I would help them. Although, the one thing that I struggled with helping the kids with was their Torah portions. The Torah portion is a unique prayer that the person having their Bar Mitzvah must-read. Considering I have not practiced every p...

LO2/S Volunteering at the Community Garden

A while back, my parents asked me if I wanted to go to volunteer at a community garden later that day. I said "Yes" as I wanted to help volunteer. With this being said, I waited a couple hours until we left the house and headed over to the community garden. Once we got there, we were greeted by the person leading the volunteer experience at the garden as well as other eager volunteers just like myself. The lead person then started to talk about what we were going to do. He said that we would be working in groups to help pick weeds and prepare the soil for plants that would be planted. Once he said this, I got in a group with my mom, dad, and another family. We decided as a group that we were going to pick weeds. This means we went over to one of the vegetable beds to start picking weeds. Everyone in my group was picking weeds and not seeming to have a problem. However, about an hour later I started to have some trouble with my back. My back started to be in excruciat...
