LO1/A Running around Rice University
Running around Rice University has been something I have always wanted to implement into my daily routine to help create a healthy lifestyle for myself. I started out taking it slow by only running three miles once a week. It took me around 30 to 35 minutes each time to run that long. While this might seem like a short time, it wasn’t where I wanted to be. I strove to run every day while breaking under the 30-minute mark. However, talking about your goal is much easier than accomplishing it. So, I decided to work towards my objective.
The first thing I did was try to recover from my daily runs so I wouldn’t be as sore and worn down the next day. I went to bed early, stretched before runs, and cleaned up my diet. After adding in this little routine, I was feeling much better the next day. Then I tried going on another run around Rice. Once I completed the second run in a row, I was still feeling worn out yet incredibly accomplished. Over the next weeks, I continued this routine of running, stretching, getting to bed early, and eating clean. As I progressed, my goals seemed to become easier. I started to run two days a week, three days, four days, and then finally, six days a week all under the time of 30 minutes. I had finished my goal I set out to do. As of right now, I have successfully implemented running around Rice into my daily routine, and as of yesterday, I made it around in 28 minutes. Through this whole process, I realized that I wouldn’t have been able to do it without staying positive and being persistent. These strengths allowed me to complete my goal. Nonetheless, I still have areas of growth I need to improve on. One of them is going for even longer-distance runs. I have been only doing these 3-mile runs, but it might be time to try 4 miles. Accomplishing this new goal will be difficult, but through hard work and persistence, I think I will be able to do it.
