LO1/S Babysitting My Neighbors

Not too long ago, my neighbors asked my mom if she knew anyone that could babysit their kids while they were gone. My mom immediately said that I would be able to do it. When I got home that day, my mom told me that I was going to be babysitting for the neighbors while the parents left for the night. I was excited as I had babysat before, but also a little worried as I hadn't spent a lot of time with the neighbors even though they live right next to us. After a few hours went by, I walked a few steps to my neighbor's house at around 7:00 PM.      When I went to my neighbors, the parents answered me with a warm welcome and told me that the kids were to be in bed by 9:30 PM. I then walked inside, closed the door, and waved the parents goodbye. I walked into the TV room and said "Hi" as well as reintroduced myself. The kids were a little shy, but I was sure that I could try and change that. The night started off by first playing monopoly, then playing vid...

LO2/A Learning to Ride my Skateboard Again

When I was younger, I would always love to go skateboarding. I started skating when I was around 8 years old, and I couldn't stop. I started going to the skatepark constantly to improve my skills. I even ended up having to beg my mom during school days to take me to the skatepark for an hour so that I could have the enjoyment of riding my skateboard. I kept on skating until I was around 13 when I started to not do it as much. The reason being that this was the point when I became super busy with different extracurriculars and homework, which caused me to stop skateboarding as much. However, 4 years later, I rekindled my love for skateboarding after trying it again on my summer vacation.      My family for the past two years has taken a trip to California in the summer. Before we went, I was undecided if I should take my skateboard or not. After thinking about it for a while, I gave in and decided to bring my skateboard with the doubt that I would end u...

LO5/S Volunteering at K-9 Angels Animal Shelter

When I started thinking about my NHS project, I realized wanted to volunteer at an animal shelter called K-9 Angels as I am a huge fan of dogs considering I have grown up with them my entire life. So, I decided to apply to become certified to volunteer there. I went online and submitted my application and waited eagerly for a response. As I got the okay, I scheduled the training session so that I could learn how to help out at the animal shelter. When the day arrived, I walked into the shelter, I signed in, and then I  was greeted with a bunch more people that were here for the same orientation as I was. I thought for a minute about how I have a difficult time meeting and working with new people as I felt I worked better by myself. Although, I had to get over this challenge of mine right at that very moment. As everyone slowly arrived, the instructor-led us around the shelter explaining to us what everything was. For example, where the dog food is,...
