LO6/S Helping to Feed the Homeless

    At my Sunday School, we went to go do community service at a place called the Beacon. The Beacon is a shelter for the homeless where they can get fresh food, clean clothes, a shower, legal help, and so much more. This organization has been helping the homeless for many years and they have been doing a great job. With all of this being said, my Sunday School group got in a car, headed to the Beacon, and met up with the person that was going to be leading us. The person explained that we had the choice of doing laundry or helping to make food. I wanted to help make food as I am passionate about how everyone should get food. We then split up to either go to the laundry room or the kitchen. I walked with my group to the kitchen to start help making food to serve. When we got into the kitchen, we met the chef and then immediately got to work. We helped to prepare food and also got in the line to serve some already made food. The homeless people started to line up and we served them warm meals. Everyone was very happy and thankful as nothing can beat a hot meal

    As one can see, I engaged in the global issue of world hunger. I was helping to feed the homeless population by making and preparing food for them to eat. The issue of world hunger is a huge problem all over the world, due to people being unable to pay for food. In Texas, the homeless population is quite a lot, meaning that many people might not have money to pay for food. That is why the Beacon is such a great organization, as they give warm meals to the homeless.

LO1/A Mastering the Putter

     A couple of days ago, I was extremely bored. So, I decided I would go to the golf range and practice my putting. I had played 9-holes a couple of times before I went to the range, and my putting was preposterous. Whenever I got to the green, I was making 3-5 putts, which is terrible. Putting this into perspective, one should usually make 2 putts every hole. However, I was not doing that when I went to play 9-holes. This is why I decided I was just going to the golf range to practice my putter because that is what needs the most work in my golf game. With all of this being said, I packed my golf clubs in the car and drove over to the Hermann Park golf range. LO2/S Volunteering at the Community Garden

     A while back, my parents asked me if I wanted to go to volunteer at a community garden later that day. I said "Yes" as I wanted to help volunteer. With this being said, I waited a couple hours until we left the house and headed over to the community garden. Once we got there, we were greeted by the person leading the volunteer experience at the garden as well as other eager volunteers just like myself. The lead person then started to talk about what we were going to do. He said that we would be working in groups to help pick weeds and prepare the soil for plants that would be planted. Once he said this, I got in a group with my mom, dad, and another family. We decided as a group that we were going to pick weeds. This means we went over to one of the vegetable beds to start picking weeds. Everyone in my group was picking weeds and not seeming to have a problem.
