LO1/A Mastering the Putter
A couple of days ago, I was extremely bored. So, I decided I would go to the golf range and practice my putting. I had played 9-holes a couple of times before I went to the range, and my putting was preposterous. Whenever I got to the green, I was making 3-5 putts, which is terrible. Putting this into perspective, one should usually make 2 putts every hole. However, I was not doing that when I went to play 9-holes. This is why I decided I was just going to the golf range to practice my putter because that is what needs the most work in my golf game. With all of this being said, I packed my golf clubs in the car and drove over to the Hermann Park golf range. Once I arrived at the golf range, I parked my car and immediately walked over to the putting green. When I got to the green, I proceeded to grab my putter and three golf balls. I then chose a golf hole and put my three balls on the ground about a foot from the hole. After this, I started putting. From a one foot distance, my putting was pretty good. I was able to one putt everything. After I felt comfortable with a distance of one foot, I moved the golf balls back to two feet, and then three feet. The one and two foot putts were all successful. Although, as I got to three feet, four feet, and five feet, I started to struggle. I was now hitting 3-5 putts at this distance, which is exactly what I didn't want. In order to fix this, I grabbed another golf club and put it on the ground where I was putting. I was able to use the other golf club to guide my ball. As I became more consistent, I took the golf club away and I started to now make 2-4 putts, which is an improvement.
As one can see, my strengths are making one-putts from a distance of 1-2 feet from the golf hole. Another strength I used was my attitude of not giving up. I kept on practicing until my putting started to improve. Moreover, some of my areas of growth that I developed include lowering the number of putts it takes me to get in the golf hole from 3-5 feet. I was initially making 3-5 putts from that distance, but now I was making 2-4. This is a vast improvement in my eyes.
