LO2/A Learning to Unicycle

A while back, I decided I wanted to teach myself how to unicycle. For anyone that doesn't know, a unicycle is a bicycle that has one wheel. It is extremely difficult to learn as it requires perfect balance and physical coordination. One must be able to not lean too far back or too far forward, but just enough to wheel the unicycle forward. With this being said, I convinced my parents to buy me a unicycle to start my practicing. However, once I got the unicycle, I quickly realized that this was going to be extremely difficult. As I got on the unicycle, I was immediately unable to balance. I wanted to ride around so badly right at the start, but that wasn't going to happen. So, I started by placing my unicycle near a wall, putting my hand on the wall, and just sitting on the cycle. I did this to start getting the feel for the unicycle. Then, I started to use the pedals to pedal back and forth while still being on the wall. This helped me to start getting the pedal motion. After 30 minutes of that, I decided I was ready to take a crack at trying to ride the unicycle. I sat on the unicycle with my back against the wall to steady myself. I then pushed off the wall to try and start pedaling. Once I pushed off the wall, I only made it about a foot before falling off. However, I kept on trying and trying until I got two feet, three feet, and soon the length of the basketball court in my backyard.

As one can see, I undertook the difficult challenge of learning how to ride a unicycle. For many people, learning how to ride a bike is difficult, but I was learning how to ride a bike with only one wheel. I had to put in hours that consisted of tears, sweat, and scrapes until I was able to even start to ride the unicycle. It took me even more hours to ride across the basketball court in my backyard. Overall, I overcame my challenges and learned a new skill of riding a unicycle.
